Overgrown nails hurt more than they look
When you hear clicking on the tile, the nails are already changing how your dog stands. Long nails push the toes upward and sideways, splay the feet, shift weight to the back of the pads and, over months, strain wrists, elbows and shoulders. In seniors it can be the difference between comfortable walks and reluctance to move. Worse, the quick (the blood vessel inside the nail) grows out with the nail, so the longer you wait, the shorter you CAN'T cut. Regular trims every 3–4 weeks actually let the quick recede so nails can get properly short again.
